DHS&EM OPERATIONS

Operational Environment

DHS&EM continues to work with FEMA on approved federal assistance for the 09 Spring Floods. DHS&EM and FEMA have established a Joint Field Office (JFO) in Anchorage.  Joint FEMA/State field teams are deployed this week to implement FEMA Individual Assistance (IA) and Public Assistance (PA) Programs in Stevens Village, Red Devil, Fort Yukon, Aniak, Eagle Village and Eagle
No change of activity at Redoubt Volcano.

SECC monitors wildfires throughout the state.  For details please see current AICC attachments.

• Significant Weather from the NWS
Nothing significant to report.

Declared Disasters – Recovery Phase
Federal Disasters:
FEMA-1843-DR-AK – Spring flooding and ice jam flooding.  Recovery efforts continue.

The SECC monitors several events where some events are still open but awaiting further actions.

• H1N1 Flu Outbreak
State and local health officials continue to monitor the novel influenza A (H1N1) in Alaska.

• Redoubt Volcano
The Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) and DHS&EM Response section continues to monitor Redoubt Volcano.  The Aviation Color Code is ORANGE and the Volcano Alert Level is WATCH.


Alaska Fire Season
The Alaska Interagency Coordination Center (AICC) Situation Report and AICC Morning Highlights are attached to this email and can be found on the AICC web site at http://fire.ak.blm.gov/.

• Alaska Wildfires
Alaska Interagency Coordination Center (AICC):
As of today, there have been a total of 306 fires reported with total acreage of 294,680.6.

• Significant Fires:
There are no fires that pose a significant threat to Alaska communities at this time.

• Lightning Map
There were 543 lightning strikes in Alaska from 6:00 AM yesterday to 6:00 AM today.
