Maritime Security (MARSEC) Level – Level I – Low.

Alaska Volcano
DHS&EM along with Alaska Volcano Observatory and the National Weather Service staff are closely monitoring Redoubt Volcano.  In the event of a significant eruption or significant change in Redoubt’s status, DHS&EM will initiate appropriate notices and a follow-on teleconference in accordance with the Alaska Interagency Operating Plan for Volcanic Ash Episodes.

AVO Current Status Report:  As of Monday, Feb 02, 2009 at 12:57PM
Unrest at Redoubt Volcano continues. Seismic activity remains elevated and is well above background levels. A vapor plume is intermittently visible in the AVO web camera. It appears to rise no higher than the volcano's summit.

An observation and gas-measurement flight to the volcano is en route now.

Staffs are currently monitoring the volcano 24 hours a day. We will issue further information as it becomes available.

Winter Storm Warning
Misty Fjords.  A winter storm warning remains in effect from 6 pm this evening to 6 am Tuesday. Expect 10 to 15 inches of snow accumulation.

Juneau Borough and Northern Admiralty Island.  A winter storm warning remains in effect from midnight tonight to 12 pm Tuesday. Expect 5 to 10 inches of snow accumulation.

Wind Chill Warning
Western Arctic Coast. The wind chill warning is now in effect until 6 pm this afternoon. Northeast winds locally to 15 mph combined with temperatures near 35 below will produce local wind chill to 65 below today.
