Maritime Security (MARSEC) Level – Level I – Low.

Threat Level Changes
No change

Flood Warning
The National Weather Service in Juneau has issued a flood warning due to rain for the Taiya River until 6:00 PM Wednesday. At 1140 AM, the Taiya River reached 17.1 feet and is still rising slowly. At this stage, Chilkoot Trail should be closed by National Park Service. The trail may also be closed at lower levels due to safety concerns.

High Wind Warning
The National Weather Service (NWS)  in Fairbanks has issued a high wind warning which is in effect until midnight tonight for the Eastern Beaufort Sea Coast including Kaktovik and Flaxman Island. East winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 60 mph are expected for the rest of today and through the evening hours.

Travel Advisory
A travel advisory has been issued for the Dalton Highway.  Alaska West Trucking will be moving a 24 feet wide, approximately 244,000 lbs module along Dalton Highway to Prudhoe Bay.
September 17 – Hill Top to Yukon River
September 18 – Yukon River to Dietrich
September 19 – Dietrich north to 62 Mile
September 20 - 62 Mile north to Prudhoe Bay
Please watch for pilot cars and expect delays.

Tanana Basin Flooding
The Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management’s State Disaster Assistance Program for the July/August 2008 flooding event remains open. To apply, call toll free, 1-800-921-3682. The deadline to apply for State Disaster Assistance is 3 October 2008.

Alaska Volcanoes
Three Alaska volcanoes: Kasatochi, Okmok and Cleveland are currently at Aviation Color Code Yellow and Volcano Alert Level Advisory.
