Threat Level Changes
No change.

Coastal Hazard Message
The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a high surf advisory for Chukchi Sea Coast. High surf advisory is now in effect until 6 pm AKDT this afternoon. A northwest wind of 20 to 30 mph will continue today. The region that will be most affected is in and around Shishmaref however, other local areas west of Cape Espenberg will also be at risk during this event. The winds will be fairly constant and will likely cause beach erosion around Shishmaref today.
Tanana Basin Flooding
The Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management’s State Disaster Assistance Program remains open for individuals and families in the Fairbanks North Star Borough, City of Nenana, the Denali Borough, Village of Wainwright, the City of Kaktovik and Yukon-Koyukuk REAA, who sustained damages to their primary residence, personal property, and transportation during the July/August 2008 flooding event.

To apply, call toll free, 1-800-921-3682, Monday through Friday, 9am – 6pm. The deadline to apply for State Disaster Assistance is 3 October 2008. Note:  The hotline answering machine will be available 24/7. Messages left on the answering machine will be answered on the next working day.

A Joint State and FEMA Preliminary Damage Assessment team will be in the impacted areas this week.
