State of Alaska Situation
Volcano
Augustine Volcano: Current Level of Concern Color Code: YELLOW. Elevated seismicity continues. Seismic data indicate that small explosions and/or vigorous venting of volcanic gasses have occurred over the last 24 hours. Web camera and satellite views were cloudy yesterday. There is no indication that a large eruption of Augustine is imminent. Small explosions can occur with no warning and could affect low-flying aircraft in the vicinity of the volcano. Yesterday's field work was successful. Four additional seismometers were installed on Augustine and gas concentrations were measured. Data from the gas flight are currently under analysis.
