State of Alaska Situation
DHS&EM continues to monitor the increased activity of Augustine Volcano over the past week. We are also working with seismologists, hydrologists and volcanologists of the Alaska Volcano Observatory, Alaska's Tsunami Warning Center in Palmer, the National Weather Service, and local emergency management officials of the Kenai Peninsula Borough, to review State and local response plans should an eruption occur.

Significant Dates
December 27, 2002 – Chechnya: Bombing of a Government Building in Chechnya. A suicide bomb attack involving two explosives-laden trucks destroyed the offices of the pro-Russian Chechen government in Grozny. The attack killed over 80 people and wounded 210. According to a Chechen website run by the Kavkaz Center, Chechen warlord Shamil Basayev claimed responsibility.
December 27, 1999 – India: Harakat ul-Mujahedin rebels storm anti-terrorist office in Kashmir killing 3, wounding 7.
December 27, 1998 - Colombian army captures Ramon Calderon Andrade, Siete Mujeres, FARC logistics expert.
December 27, 1985 - Abu Nidal group attacks Rome and Vienna airports; 18 dead, including 4 terrorists, 121 wounded.
