State of Alaska Situation
Volcano
Augustine Volcano: Current Level of Concern Color Code: Yellow.
Seismicity at Augustine has been relatively low compared to previous weeks. However, small explosions can still occur with no warning and could affect low-flying aircraft in the vicinity of the volcano. Web camera and satellite views were cloudy yesterday. There is no indication that a large eruption of Augustine is imminent.
High Wind Warning
The National Weather Service in Juneau has issued a high wind warning from 9 pm tonight to 6 am Friday for the southeast Alaska coastal area from Cape Fairweather to Cape Ommaney. A strong storm will move north and then west through the eastern Gulf of Alaska tonight. This will bring winds gusting to at least 60 mph over exposed coastal areas of the southeast Alaska.
The high wind watch from Dixon Entrance to Cape Decision coastal area and for the southern inner channels has been upgraded to a high wind warning
