Blizzard Warnings
The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued the following:

Western Prince William Sound including Whittier, Seward, Girdwood and Moose Pass. Blizzard warning beginning this afternoon through Tuesday. North and west winds are expected to rapidly increase this afternoon to 20 to 35 mph gusting to 45 mph at times. The stronger gusts are expected in Whittier, Seward and through Turnagain Pass to Snow River Delta. The combination of the strong wind and the recent moderate to heavy snow fall will result in visibilities frequently reduced to less than 1/4 mile in blowing snow beginning this afternoon.

Northeast Prince William Sound including Valdez, and Thompson Pass. Continue blizzard warning to begin this afternoon for Thompson Pass and extend the blizzard warning to include the city of Valdez through Tuesday. North wind will increase to 15 to 25 mph with frequent gusts to 50 mph this afternoon. The recent snow fall in combination with the windy conditions will result in blizzard conditions from the pass into town. Expect visibilities to frequently reduce to less than ¼ mile developing this afternoon. These blizzard conditions are expected to last into Tuesday afternoon.

Southeast Prince William Sound including Cordova. North wind 35 to 55 mph gusting to 80 mph will develop in the Copper River Delta late this afternoon and continue through Tuesday afternoon. Expect blowing and drifting snow near the Delta as the wind picks up this afternoon to continue into the early evening.

Heavy Snow Warning
The National Weather Service in Juneau has issued heavy snow warning for Haines Borough and Lynn Canal, Glacier Bay, Eastern Chichagof Island and Juneau Borough and Northern Admiralty Island. The winter storm watch has been upgraded to a heavy snow Warning over the north half inner channels of southeast Alaska today and tonight including the communities of Haines, Gustavus, Hoonah and Juneau. The potential exists for snow accumulations of 6 inches ore more today and tonight.

Winter Storm Warning
The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a winter storm warning remains in effect until 4 pm Tuesday for the Eastern Alaska Range including Black Rapids, Donnelly Dome, Trims Camp, Eagle Trail and Mineral Lake. Total snow accumulation of up to seven inches through tonight along with north winds to 30 to 50 mph through the passes tonight and Tuesday will produce blowing snow and lower visibilities to near zero at times. Conditions will improve Tuesday night.

International Situation
An Islamist website broadcast a videotape of last week's attack on the mess hall in Mosul that killed 22 people and injured dozens more. The three terrorists shown on the video are believed to be members of the Ansar al-Sunnah Army which is the group that claimed responsibility for the attack.
