State of Alaska Situation
Winter Storm Warnings
The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued the following:

Southeastern Brooks Range including Arctic Village, Wiseman, Coldfoot, Chandalar, D.O.T. Camp and Iniakuk Lake. Winter storm warning extended until 4 pm this afternoon from the Dalton Highway westward. Snow has tapered off in the area. Local southwest winds gusting to 35 mph continue to produce local blizzard conditions

Upper Koyukuk Valley including Allakaket, Hughes, Bettles, Caribou Mountain, and Gobblers Knob. Winter storm warning remains in effect until 4 pm today. Snow has tapered off in the area. However, above tree line southwest winds to 40 mph with blizzard conditions continue. Winds and blizzard conditions will diminish late this afternoon.

Yukon Flats and surrounding uplands including, Fort Yukon, Venetie, Central, Circe, Stevens Village, Beaver, Chalkyitsik, Birch Creek, Circle Hot Springs, Eagle Summit and Twelvemile Summit. Winter storm warning in effect through 4 pm today for areas above tree line, Blizzard conditions above tree line continue this afternoon. Snow and blowing snow, whipped by west winds to 50 mph will locally reduce visibilities to near zero. The winds and blizzard conditions will diminish this afternoon.

Central Interior, Nenana, Anderson, Tanana, Minto, Manley Hot Springs, Rampart, Lake Minchumina and Livengood. Winter storm warning continues through 4 pm today for areas above tree line north of the Tanana River.  Blizzard conditions above tree line north of the Tanana River will continue today. Snow and blowing snow, whipped by west winds to 40 mph will reduce visibilities to near zero. The winds and blizzard conditions will diminish this afternoon.

Oil Spill, Unalaska Island - M/V Selendang Ayu
On 7 December 2004, the Coast Guard notified the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) that the M/V Selendang Ayu had lost engine power and was adrift. The vessel grounded on December 8 and broke into two pieces. The vessel had 424,000 gallons of bunker C (IFO380 Intermediate fuel oil) and 18,000 gallons of diesel fuel on board. The amount of product spilled is unknown. The M/V Selendang Ayu remains grounded in two pieces approximately 1800 yards offshore of Cape Spray.
